Annotations and Hidden Elements

Outline, highlight, or hide page elements with CSS selectors, or mark up the image with AI annotations. Both apply on every capture.

The problem

Raw screenshots often need callouts for clarity, and some elements (personal data, banners, live counters) should not appear in published images.

How ScreenshotAgent solves it

Add border and highlight annotations, or hide elements entirely, by CSS selector. ScreenshotAgent applies them in the browser before each capture, so they carry over to every recapture. For hand-drawn circles, arrows, callouts and blur, add an AI annotation rule, which draws on top of each new capture without changing its pixels.

Expected outcomes

  • Consistent callouts across docs and support assets.
  • Elements matched by your selectors are hidden before the image is taken.
  • No manual editing after each recapture.

FAQ

Can we keep sensitive fields out of screenshots?
Yes. Add the CSS selectors for those elements to the hide list and they are made invisible before capture. Review the result before publishing, since selectors only match what you specify. To blur data you cannot target by selector, add an AI annotation rule with the blur preset.
Are annotations reusable across updates?
Yes. Annotations and hidden-element selectors are saved with the screenshot and applied on every recapture. AI annotation rules run again on every new capture too.
Selector annotations or AI annotations?
Use selectors when you can point at the element: they are exact and do not use your AI annotation allowance. Use AI annotations for marks a CSS outline cannot draw, like a hand-drawn circle or an arrow with a callout.
